Why we retain Bounces & Complaints

From 11th Dec 2022 onwards, when you have a subscriber who has Bounced or made a Complaint against your email, we will retain this subscriber’s email and this means a couple of things for you:

  1. If you import them again from our Subscribers page, they will be imported with the Bounced or Complaint statuses in any of your lists.
  2. If you delete any Lists with them and choose “Delete list and all subscribers subscribed to this list” or “Delete list and all subscribers subscribed to this list but not to other lists” then these Bounced/Complaint subscribers will not be deleted.

Why do we do this? The whole deal with becoming the cheaper alternative means you eventually get abused by ill-intentioned people and criminal organisations. This is why many email marketing tools out there put very stringent review process before they let you send emails with their platform.

So we simply did this to prevent people who keep sending unsolicited emails from affecting our sending reputation with AWS. Do reach out to us in the Segmail platform if you have questions about this.
